Dell Technologies has released its fiscal year 2025 second quarter results, exceeding Wall Street's expectations. The company reported revenue of $25.06 billion, surpassing the anticipated $24.53 billion, and earnings per share (EPS) of $1.89, beating the expected $1.71.

The significant growth in server sales, particularly those tailored for artificial intelligence, has been a key driver of Dell's success. The company recorded $3.1 billion in AI server sales, an 80% increase from the previous quarter. This surge in demand has come primarily from cloud service providers and businesses investing heavily in next-generation AI technologies.

Dell's Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), which includes servers and systems for data centers, saw a 38% increase in sales to $11.65 billion, exceeding StreetAccount expectations of $10.44 billion. The Servers and Networking segment, which includes AI-focused servers utilizing Nvidia and AMD GPUs, achieved $7.76 billion in sales, representing an 80% annual growth.

The company's Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Clarke, attributed the revenue growth to the increasing demand for servers, noting a growing backlog of $3.8 billion in unfulfilled AI server orders. Additionally, there is a substantial pipeline of AI server agreements from enterprises and cloud providers that are yet to be finalized.

Dell's stock has appreciated by 48% year-to-date, and the company has a history of exceeding earnings estimates, having done so in each of the previous nine quarters. Analysts expect the company to continue benefiting from the booming AI server market, which is expected to expand at a 45% compound annual growth rate (CAGR).

Despite the strong performance, Dell's storage business experienced a 5% decline, and the Client Solutions Group, which focuses on PCs and laptops, saw a 4% decline year-over-year. The company also allocated $1 billion for share buybacks and dividends during the quarter.
